THE EMBERS OF WAR

Within these few days of chaos in our dearly beloved nation, Nigeria, most of us if not all have seen and felt the experience of what the situation of  what a civil war or unrest can and will to its citizens and economy if those who fan the embers of war via ethnic or political divide do not desist from such thereby negating the original visions and missions of the #EndSARS movement.
A movement borne out of the frustration, intimidation and oppression of not only the police department as part or a whole but majorly by the deceit and neglect of essential duties of her political elites both past and present spanning decades.
Strangely at this time , I could hardly see anyone who is fighting for a religious reason, hence, we have overcome the religious divide by which we have for so long been divided. I therefore urge us to understand ourselves and apply this  system to both that of ethnicity and politics.
Come to think of it, how has that ethnic person been of use to you when all he or she does is deny you your due rights? Even the little that you get is stylishly taken away from you. How is the political leader of benefit to you  when all you are needed for is to cause chaos and mayhem? While your family, friends and loved ones live their lives in penury. Is that really the life you desire?
In our National Anthem we say “ Arise o  Compatriot “ so then ARISE thou hoodlum!!! Decide this day to never be a tool of ethnic or political bigots to make the lives of others a living hell. Demand from them true and just living!
I therefore urge the rulers for I do not regard them as leaders, to look behind them and see the mess they have left behind them through acts of greed and selfishness and make amends while they ask for forgiveness from the One who granted them authority over the people.
Let the people have reasons to love the nation because Nigeria isn’t a difficult place to lead after all. Note: I used lead not rule.
Ensure that lives and property matter, by the way, what is the value of a Nigerian life?
Ensure that leadership from the Federal to the Grassroot (local Govt) is people friendly because truly speaking it is not. May I ask, how many of you can freely walk the streets without escorts? The answer is simply none, but someday you will become an ordinary citizen to experience a true reflection of the nation you have built. Posterity will ask you questions when the time comes.
Ensure that multiple taxation is looked into and the cost of politics is brought within range let’s see how many of you went in to truly be of service to the people. Let the high handedness of politicians end, let what is applicable to one be applicable to all and sundry.
Establish institutions and not strong men, we constantly talk of growth but we do the exact opposite of what we desire, institutions of study highly underfunded, research is either comatose or non-existent, medical field little or nothing, employment is practically upon the citizenry, housing and transportation a party for all who can extort.
Ensure that there is electoral reform, liberate the security forces and electoral bodies whilst they get funded by the peoples’ taxes. Decentralize the economy, allow state to use what they generate for internal development whilst paying a certain percentage to the central coffers as a form of reserve.
Lastly each arm of government should do their jobs diligently and the law should be a respecter of no one. The senators and representatives are over paid for doing little or nothing.
So much wealth  yet so much poverty and suffering in the land. It baffles me how the political elites are so proud of themselves when there is nothing to be proud of. I keep wondering how it is that you find it possible to sleep at night. Do the needful for there indeed is judgement at the end of it all.
